The Greentech Festival in Berlin is focused on sustainable technologies. Together with the start-up Urban Beta, we developed and implemented the lighting design for BetaPort - a sustainable mobility hub that stands for attractive, scalable urban development. BetaPort offers solutions for sustainable architecture on demand. The system can grow over time and adapt to future use cases, enabled by forward planning for maximum efficient layouts.
BetaPort offers seamless integration of technical solutions, as well as a circular production chain, including material tracking. Given complex and changing usage patterns it is particularly important to provide customized lighting that is as well easy to install and operate.
To design a lighting solution for the future, luminaires with plug-and-play wiring are used. Long diffuse tubes in tunable white and spots with directional brilliant light that can be adjusted in beam angle can be combined together many times, requiring only a single electrical supply line. All luminaires have the same housing or end cap and thus combine to a continuous row system. Each luminaire can be individually controlled and dimmed via Casambi.
Depending on the application, the luminaires can be configured differently and easily adapted to the space by the user themselves through the plug-in connection on the luminaire.
Cross luminaires as a special solution in the nodes on the exterior facade highlight the CI of the BetaPort in the evening hours and emphasize the essential component that stands for the plug-in connection and the plug-and-play system.
Even the design process was forward-thinking, as evidenced by the striking similarity between the 3D visuals and reality. For the user, this approach provides the most accurate and detailed outlook of their project. Using the 3D visualizations, the modular cubes can virtually illustrate what the multi-use of the future could be.
